Friend,

Federal executions continue this month and into next, with four upcoming scheduled executions.

In the coming weeks we we urge you to participate in these Calls to Action:

-Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty will be hosting execution watches and vigils should the federal executions take place. Events will be held in Kansas City, Missouri on August 26th and 28th, and September 22nd and 24th from 2:30PM-3:30PM at the Federal Courthouse, 400 E 9th St, Kansas City, MO 64106. Social distancing and mask wearing are necessary for in person events. For more information please visit our Facebook page.

-If you have not signed petitions urging a halt to the federal executions please visit www.madpmo.org and sign today.

Summer 2020 MADP Programming:

-The St. Louis Chapter of MADP hosted an online screening of “Through the Cracks” on August 6th and a Q/A that followed. We thank all of our panelists and those who were able to attend this important screening and discussion about Severe Mental Illness and the death penalty. Your feedback for our events is important to us and if you have a moment please fill out the Through the Cracks Event Feedback Form.

Our 2020 Summer Newsletter has been published on our website which you may view HERE. We continue to be encouraged by those committed to ending capital punishment in Missouri and encourage you to read more about our effort to abolish the death penalty. Please take time to read the poetry written by Marcellus Williams, an innocent man on Missouri’s death row, that is highlighted within the newsletter.

Thank you for your continued support to MADP as we work to end the death penalty in Missouri.

Sincerely,

Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty

Elyse Max, State Director

Lauren Sobchak, Organizer
